The Day We Didn't Get Married

May 16th, 2020.

The day we were supposed to drink Scribe Chardonnay, throw back oysters, and dance the night away with our closest friends and family at the Dewberry in Charleston.

The day where I would wear a magnificent white dress and say "I Do" to the man of my dreams.

The day John and I were supposed to get married.

Months of planning seemed to crumble before my eyes when we decided to postpone our wedding. It's a crushing moment when you've put so much love and thought into something and it doesn't come to fruition. I know it will be all worth it, though, when we can celebrate just like we had imagined later this November.

Despite all the ups and downs over the past few months, May 16th was still a special day for us. John and I packed a weekend bag and spent a few days in Sonoma at the dreamiest Airbnb. We had the lush property all to ourselves and it was absolutely perfect. On the day of May 16th, we had a photographer drop by to take some socially-distanced pictures to commemorate our OG wedding date. From a surprise wedding gift to wiping tears while swaying to our first dance, it was an emotional day to say the least.

I'll let the photos speak for themselves.
